Honouring Indigenous Craftsmanship

Regenerative Nomads is an evolving initiative that bridges herbalism, environmental activism, and artistic practice. As part of its commitment to honouring ancestral plant knowledge, ReNo collaborates with  Wichí artisans from northern Argentina, supporting indigenous wisdom and ethical craftsmanship. Through this exchange, ReNo weaves together herbal medicine, traditional textile storytelling, and regenerative practices, fostering deeper connections between people, plants, and cultural heritage.
In collaboration with Wichí women from the Gran Chaco region of northern Argentina, ReNo brings you these exquisite handwoven bags. The Wichí people are masters of textile artistry, using fibres from the Chaguar plant, a resilient native species of the Chaco forest. Each bag is dyed with natural pigments and woven by hand, embodying centuries of tradition and a deep connection to the land.

The Making of a Yica

Each yica is handwoven using natural Chaguar fibres, a wild plant native to the Gran Chaco region. The Wichí artisans harvest the leaves through sustainable practices, extracting the fibres by hand, softening them in water, and twisting them into strong, durable threads.
The threads are then naturally dyed using plant-based dyes, a process deeply rooted in ancestral knowledge.

Weaving each bag is a meticulous process that can take several weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the design. Every yica carries the imprint of Wichí artistry, their connection to the land, and a legacy of Indigenous resilience.

Why This Matters

By supporting this collaboration, you are helping to preserve Wichí ancestral knowledge and promote ethical, handmade craftsmanship. Each bag carries a story of resilience, cultural pride, and the deep, enduring connection between people and the natural world. In choosing these pieces, you’re contributing to fair trade, cultural preservation, and regenerative practices that honour both people and the Earth.

Each Piece is One of a Kind

All the bags shown in these photos are unique, one-off creations woven by Wichí artisans. Each piece carries its own story, shaped by the hands and traditions of the weaver. These bags are not mass-produced or replicated—what you see in the photos is a singular item that will not be repeated. If a particular piece speaks to you, know that it is truly one of a kind.
